Beach Volleyball Suffers Two Losses At Austin Peay

Lions will play two more in Clarksville, Tenn. tomorrow morning

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (5-5, 0-0 OVC) suffered two losses on Friday afternoon at the Governors Classic in Clarksville, Tenn. hosted by Austin Peay. The Lions played tough in both matches especially in their match against Austin Peay (2-6) where they fell 2-3.

Match One
Central Arkansas - 4
Lindenwood - 1


During Lindenwood's first match of the afternoon, Lindenwood fell to Central Arkansas by a final score of 4-1. The five pair of Rebecca Janke and Aubrey Sheppard were the lone Lions to pull off a win, winning in three sets by score of 21-16, 17-21 and 15-9.

Taylor Gentemann and Gabby Belcher in the number four pairs lost in two sets by scores of 21-16 and 21-11. In the threes, Katie Bockhorst and Kaelyn Putz battled tough losing both sets by scores of 21-18.

Annalie McWhorter and Abby Jacobs fell in the twos by scores of 21-14 and 21-13. The ones went the distance to three sets ultimately losing in three sets by scores of 22-20, 12-21 and 15-10.

Match Two
Austin Peay - 3
Lindenwood - 2


Lindenwood was tested in the second match of the day against the host school Austin Peay, but fell just short of a win losing by a score of 2-3. Janke and Sheppard for the second straight match went to three sets, losing this one by scores of 15-21, 21-15 and 15-8.

The Governors took a 2-0 lead of the Lions after picking up a win in the fours in three sets. Gentemann and Belcher went the distance before losing by scores of 21-12, 21-23 and 15-8. Lindenwood then started to pick up momentum in the threes with a two set win from Bockhorst and Putz with scores of 21-18 and 21-19.

Jacobs and McWhorter continued to push the Governors winning in exceptional fashion with scores of 21-5 and 21-8. This marked the lowest combined points allowed by any pair this season. During the number one pair, Wilson and VanBuskirk fell in two sets (21-18, 21-14) as the Lions fell just short.
