CHARLESTON, Ill. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (10-9, 3-3 OVC) defeated Ohio Valley Conference opponent Eastern Illinois (0-6, 0-6 OVC) on Thursday afternoon by a final score of 3-2. The Lions trailed 2-0 early before winning the final three pairs to pick up their third victory in OVC play.
Despite dropping the first two sets, both the four and five pairs battled to three sets. In the five pair,
Rebecca Janke and
Lexi Menne fell in a close three sets by scores of 13-21, 21-14 and 14-16.
Gabby Belcher and
Aubrey Sheppard also fell in the fours in three sets by scores of 21-16, 15-21 and 13-15.
Lindenwood's comeback started with the threes as
Abby VanBuskirk and
Taylor Gentemann picked up a two set victory by scores of 21-10 and 21-15.
Abby Jacobs and
Annalie McWhorter were able to tie the match at 2-2 in the one pairs finishing with scores of 21-16 and 21-12.
Nyah Wilson and
Katie Bockhorst locked up the match in the number two pairs winning in straight sets by scores of 21-5 and 21-18. The win marked the Lions' 10th of the year and third in conference play.
