The Lindenwood women's golf team concluded the OVC Championships in fourth place, finishing the three-day tournament with a team score of 964. Individually,
Andrea Alvarez finished in a tie for ninth.
OVERVIEW
The Lions opened the tournament with a 318 in round one. That effort was led by
Andrea Alvarez who carded a one-under 71 that left her in a tie for first after the opening 18 holes. She registered four birdies on the front nine to help her get to that score.
Paula Mariana Sanchez fired an 80 that included three birdies. Coming in just behind her was
Jamie Daniels with an 83,
Laura Sanchez with an 84, and rounding out the lineup was
Isabella Buckley who registered an 87.
After 18 holes, Lindenwood sat in fourth place
Lindenwood compiled a team score of 315 across the second 18, once again led by Alvarez who carded a 75 that included 12 pars and two birdies. Daniels also had a pair of birdies during her round to move up five spots on the leaderboard after compiling a 78. Paula Sanchez came in just behind her with an 81, as did Buckley. Luara Sanchez finished the second 18 with an 84.
The Lions were still fourth after 36 holes, and individually, Alvarez was second at +2.
To close out the tournament, Lindenwood carded a team score of 331 led by both Daniels and
Paula Mariana Sanchez who carded an 80. Danield was terrific on the front nine, shooting a one-under with the help of two birdies.
Laura Sanchez shot an 85, while Alvarez finished her strong tournament with an 86. Buckly concluded the final 18 shooting a 96.
Overall, the Lions finished in fourth place, two shots ahead of Tennessee Tech. The Black and Gold had three golfers finish inside the top 15, led by Alvarez who finished in a tie for seventh.
