CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Lindenwood beach volleyball (13-13, 4-6 OVC) ended day one of the Ohio Valley Conference Championships with a 1-1 record after defeating #5 Tennessee Tech to start the day before losing to the defending OVC Champs Chattanooga in the afternoon. The Lions will continue their journey for an OVC Championship on Friday during the double elimination style bracket.
MATCH ONE
#4 Lindenwood - 3
#5 Tennessee Tech - 1
Lindenwood started off the first day of the OVC Championships with a 3-1 victory over Tennessee Tech (4-18, 2-8 OVC) after some rain delays. The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead before claiming the third match win after an hour of rain delay.

The five pairs of
Sienna King and
Myah Hough earned a 2-0 victory over Jazmine Yamilkoski and McKenna Young by final scores of 21-15 and 21-12.
Gabby Belcher and
Aubrey Sheppard dominated in the fours defeating Emma Pabon and Ava Schubert by scores of 21-7 and 21-3.

Taylor Gentemann and
Abby VanBuskirk were the lone Lions pair to fall in the match during the three pairs losing in three sets by scores of 12-21, 21-15 and 13-15.
Nyah Wilson and
Katie Bockhorst did not finish their match due to clinching the third match. The duo had scores of 22-20 and 20-21.

Annalie McWhorter and
Abby Jacobs clinched the opening round win against the Golden Eagles after a three set win in the ones over Jordan Karlen and Bella Powell. The All-OVC Second Team duo picked up a three set win by scores of 21-10, 24-26 and 15-10.
MATCH TWO
#4 Lindenwood - 1
#1 Chattanooga - 3
After advancing to the next round of the bracket, the Lions fell to the Mocs of Chattanooga (24-5, 10-0 OVC) by a final score of 3-1. Lindenwood battled in all five matches eventually earning their first point against the Mocs this season.
Hough and King started out the second match of the day with a 2-0 loss in the fives by scores of 17-21 and 11-21 against Sydney Jackwin and Ansley Gulledge. Belcher and Sheppard continued their excellent start to the weekend with a three set win in the fours by scores of 21-17, 10-21 and 15-8. They were the only Lindenwood pair to go 2-0 to start the Championships.
VanBuskirk and Gentemann were unable to secure a point in the threes losing to Paige Gallentine and Kit Gresham by scores of 13-21 and 8-21. The match ended in a 3-1 result after the two pair for Lindenwood of Wilson and Bockhorst lost by scores of 17-21 and 15-21. Jacobs and McWhorter were leading 1-0 before the match was called.
