Christelle Barafundi and
Chanel Honeywell of the Lindenwood track and field squad have been named Athletes to Watch as announced by the Ohio Valley Conference on Friday. Honeywell was tabbed the Track Athlete to Watch, while Barafundi was named the Field Athlete to Watch
Honeywell is a returning champion from last year as she took first in the 60 meters at the OVC Championship with a time of 7.61. She also placed in the top five in two other events during the indoor season a year ago. In outdoor competition, she finished first in the 4x100 at the SIUE Cougar Classic with a time of 46.80.
Baradundi has had a strong start to this season already, taking the top spot at the Saluki Fast Start with a long jump of 5.83 meters. During the indoor season in 2024-25, she had had three top 10 finishes in the long jump, including third at the Show-Me Showdown, posting 5.57m
Barafundi, Honeywell and the rest of the Lions are currently competing in the Show-Me Showdown in Columbia, Mo. Â
