On Wednesday, the Ohio Valley Conference announced that Chanel Honeywell of the Lindenwood track and field team has been named the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week.

Honeywell had a solid performance at the Show-Me Showdown in Columbia, Mo. last week, placing 1^st in the 200-meter dash among 41 competitors in the field. The native of Jamaica set a new PR in the event with a time of 24.10, which is also a top 50 time in all of Division I, the second fastest in school history and the top time among all OVC schools this season.

Honeywell also competed in the 60-meter dash and finished third among a field of 34. She compiled a time of 7.59 during the event, which is the fastest among all OVC foes so far this season.

Honeywell and the rest of the Lions will be back in action this weekend at the Don DeNoon Classic on January 23-24 in Carbondale, Ill.
