The Lindenwood track and field team had a strong day at the Cougar Classic this weekend in Edwardsville, Ill. The Lions had multiple personal and season bests on the way to a third-place finish, scoring 98 points.
TOP PERFORMERS
Javelin Throw –
Lilly Peters set a new school record with a mark of 47.58, which was good for a first-place finish. It was also a personal and season best.
Kendall Klewer took second in the event at 45.46, which was also a PR.
Shot Put –
Aliyah Robertson finished second at 12.47m
Triple Jump –
Mary Elliott finished third with a mark of 11.51m, while
Mireya Simpson took sixth at 10.76
400m Hurdles –
Taylor Oliver finished third, crossing the line with a time of 1:10.42
100m Dash – Three Lions finished in the top 10, led by
Chanel Honeywell with a time of 11.85.
Christelle Barafundi took eighth and
Neo Bourn was ninth
100m Hurdles –
Mireya Simpson took sixth with a time of 14.74.
Kinsey Dueker set a PR with a time of 14.35
200m – A trio of Lions finished inside the top seven.
Chanel Honeywell took third with a time of 24.27.
Christelle Barafundi set a new PR at 24.98, finishing sixth.
Neo Bourn set a season best and took seventh with a time of 25.37
400m –
Nyah Hope set a season best at 58.29, finishing seventh
Hammer Throw –
Lilly Peters set a PR with a mark of 38.01, finishing ninth
1500m –
Anna Drochelman set a PR with a time of 4:57.07, finishing 11
th
800m -
Gabriella Evangelista De La Rosa set a six second PR in the event with a time of 2:26.96
Overall, the Lions set 31 season or personal bests at the Cougar Classic this weekend, including one school record.
