Lindenwood Shows Big Improvement In Final Round Of Northeastern State Classic

The Lindenwood men's golf team showed a lot of improvement on day two of the Northeastern State Golf Classic. The Lions knocked 21 shots of their round one score and moved up three spots in the final team standings.

Lindenwood opened the tournament with a 323, but it bounced back with a 302 on Tuesday, the sixth-best score of the day. The team's top four golfers all lowered their scores, including Patrick Harrell being eight shots better and Erik Isacsson carding seven shots better. With the improvement, the Lions finished 11th overall in the 18-team tournament with a 625, and was just one shot behind the two teams tied for ninth.

Isacsson led the team with a two-day score of 149, including a one-under 71 on Tuesday. He finished in a tie for 13th-place. Greg MacAulay was also in the top-20 with a two-day score of 150. Harrell finished with a 160, Greg Phillips had a 166, and Jake Smock turned in a 173.

Southwestern Oklahoma won the tournament with a 589. Newman's Myles Miller won the medalist honors with a three-under 141.

Lindenwood will be in action again when it hosts the Lindenwood Fall Invitational on Oct. 1-2 at Whitmoor Country Club.
