The Lindenwood men's golf team began their spring season with a seventh place finish at the Las Vegas Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. The three-round tournament, hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis, stretched over two-days and included 15 competing teams. Play wrapped up on Monday afternoon.
The Lions completed the three-round event with a total team score of 903, three strokes behind sixth place California Baptist. West Florida won the tournament with a three-round total score of 866. The Lions posted scores of 314, 288, and 301 during the event. Lindenwood's second round score of 288 was tied for the second best round by any competing school.
Ryan Dyck led the way for the Lions individually, posting rounds of 76,71, and 72 for a team-low score of 219. Dyck finished the tournament tied for ninth-place. Just behind Dyck, was
Yente Van Doren who ended play tied for 12th following his final score of 220. Van Doren shot a 67 during the second-round of the tournament, which was tied for the best individual round out of the 78 competing golfers. Koke Edo Maeso tied for 26th place, improving on his scores through each round. Also participating in the tournament for the Lions were
Brad Currier and
Christian Argyros.
The Lions will return to the links on March 14-15 for the Washburn Invitational. The two-day event will be held at the Topeka Country Club in Topeka, Kan.
