The Lindenwood men's golf team finished second at the Washburn Invitational in Topeka, Kan. The two-day, three-round tournament was compromised of a 14 competing teams and 91 individual golfers. Â
The Lions completed the first two rounds of play on Monday shooting 294 and 289, respectively. Lindenwood's first day performance left them in second-place heading into Tuesday's action. The Lions posted a third round score of 303 and a final score of 886, finishing in second-place. Lindenwood wrapped up play 26 strokes ahead of third-place Bethany, and 13 strokes behind tournament champions Washburn.
Yente Van Doren posted a tournament-low three round score of 215, finishing first overall among the 91 competing golfers. Van Doren got off to a hot start on day one of the tournament, shooting rounds of 71 and 73. During the third round of play, Van Doren again fired a 71, to win the event by one stroke over Washburn's Alex Green. The first-place finish for Van Doren was his fifth top-10 finish of the season.
Koke Edo Maeso fired a 221 over the three round event, finishing tied for sixth place. Edo Maeso posted scores of 74,73, and 74 en route to his second top-10 finish of the season.
Ryan Dyck completed the tournament tied for 13th place, with a final score of 223. Dyck posted a tournament-low round of 69 during round two on Monday afternoon. Dyck's score of 69 during the second round eclipsed his previous season-low round of 71.
Juan Torrente made his Lindenwood debut during the tournament, shooting a 227 over the three rounds of play. Torrente finished in 19th-place, and shot a personal best of 73 during the first round.
Garrett Blair finished tied for 43rd-place, and had a low score of 76 during the opening round of play.
The Lions will return to the course on March 21-22 for the Broncho Invitational in Oklahoma City, Okla. The three-round tournament will be hosted by Central Oklahoma, and will take place at the Gaillardia Country Club.
