The Lindenwood men's golf team completed its 2015-16 regular season schedule with a fifth-place finish at the SBU Invitational in Bolivar, Mo. The two-day, two-round tournament featured 16 competing teams and 86 golfers with play wrapping up on Tuesday afternoon. The fifth-place finish marked the fourth consecutive top-five finish for Lindenwood, and its 10th top-10 finish of the year.
Lindenwood began play on Monday with a total team score of 312, landing in fifth-place after 18 holes. The Lions bested their first-round score by 13 strokes, posting a second-round score of 299, for a final total of 611. Lindenwood finished one stroke ahead of sixth-place Missouri Southern. Tournament champions Southwestern Oklahoma completed play with a total team score of 588, finishing 12 strokes ahead of second-place Central Oklahoma.
Juan Torrente was the top-finisher for Lindenwood after posting team-low scores during each round of the tournament. Torrente fired rounds of 77 and 73 en route to his second top-10 finish in four tournaments this season. Torrente ranked fourth amongst all competing golfers in pars made with 26.
Ryan Dyck finished play two strokes behind Torrente, tying for 20th place with a two-round total of 152. Dyck registered a team-high five birdies during the 36 holes of play.
Yente Van Doren and
Garrett Blair finished tied for 34th place with identical scores of 155.
Also competing for Lindenwood were Koke Edo Maeso and
Christian Argyros. Edo Maeso finished tied for 45th place, while Argyros, who competed as an individual ended play tied for 59th place.
The Lions will return to the links on April 18-20 from Kansas City, Mo. during the MIAA Tournament. The tournament will be held at Tiffany Green's Golf Club.
