Men’s Golf Lands in Second-Place at Lindenwood Invitational

The Lindenwood men's golf team finished in second-place at the Lindenwood Invitational held in St. Charles, Mo. The two-day, three-round tournament was held at the Missouri Bluffs golf Club and consisted of eight teams and 59 competing golfers.  

The Lions began play on Monday morning, firing a 293 during the first round, landing in second-place after 18 holes. Lindenwood ended round two with a team score of 305, keeping them in second-place at the end of day one. The Lions wrapped up the tournament with a third round score of 306, giving them a three round total of 904. Lindenwood finished five strokes ahead of third place Drury, and 14 strokes in front of fourth place Lindenwood-Belville. Indian Hills won the tournament with a three round score of 868, while also boasting four of the top-five finishers on the individual side.

Lindenwood had 11 golfers compete in the tournament, and were led by Yente Van Doren who finished play in seventh-place. Van Doren opened play on Monday with rounds of 72 and 73, before shooting an 80 during the final round. For Van Doren, the top-ten finish was his team-leading seventh of the season.  

Koke Edo Maeso and Juan Torrente each finished tied for ninth place, with three round totals of 227. Edo Maeso had his best round of the tournament on Monday, posting a 72 through the opening 18 holes. Torrente shot consecutive rounds of 74 during the final two rounds to earn his lowest finish of the season.

Finishing just behind Edo Maeso and Torrente was Ryan Dyck. Dyck fired rounds of 73,76, and 79 for a score of 228, tying him for 12th place. Dyck completed play with a tournament-best 10 birdies.

Christian Argyros, Garrett Blair, Brad Currier, Justin Stacer, and Vince DePinto all finished within four strokes of each other, finishing 24th, T-25th, 27th, 28th, and T-29th respectively.  Also competing for Lindenwood were Tyler McKay and Ryan Amos, finishing T-46th and T-52nd.

Lindenwood will conclude its regular season on April 11-12 at the Southwest Baptist Invitational in Bolivar, Mo. The event will be the final tournament before the Lions enter the MIAA tournament.
