Dyck and Van Doren Send Men’s Golf to First-Place Finish

The Lindenwood men's golf team won its first tournament of the season on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in first place at the Dave Falconer Classic in Danville, Ark. The Lions now have five top-five finishes in their eight tournaments this season, and have ranked in the top-ten in seven of the eight events.

Lindenwood opened the tournament with a first-round score of 298 and sat in third place after the opening round of play. On the tournament's second day, Lindenwood lowered its score by 10 strokes, for a final-round score of 288. The Lions two-round score of 586 placed the team one stroke in front of second-place, Henderson State. Lindenwood's second-round score of 288 was the second-lowest single-round team score shot by any of the 16 competing teams.
 
Ryan Dyck had the best finish for Lindenwood, tying for third place among the 93 competing golfers. Dyck began the tournament with a first-round score of 69, and sat in first place after the opening round. Dyck shot a 74 during the second round, and completed the tournament with a two-round total of 143. Dyck's score of 69 was his lowest single-round score of the season.
 
Yente Van Doren tied for fifth place, finishing the tournament with a two-round score of 144. Following a score of 77 during his first 18 holes of play, Van Doren shot a 67 during the final round, his lowest single-round score of the season.
 
Van Doren and Dyck each recorded a team-leading six birdies and one eagle during the tournament.
 
Juan Torrente Corbett tied for 17th place, completing the event with a score of 147. Torrente shot a 70 during the second round, lowering his score by seven strokes after a first-round score of 77.
 
Alejandro Canizares tied for 46th place with a score of 154, while Christian Argyros landed in 69th place. Brad Currier competed as an individual for Lindenwood, tying for 89th place.
 
Lindenwood will next be in action on March 26-27 at the NSIC Spring Preview in Smithville, Mo. The tournament will be hosted by Bemidji State and will be played at Paradise Point Golf Club.
