The Lindenwood men's golf team placed second at the NSIC Spring Preview on Monday afternoon in Smithville, Mo. Lindenwood's
Alejandro Canazares and Juan Torrente tied for second place to lead the Lions to their sixth top-five finish of the season.
Lindenwood finished one stroke behind first-place, Iowa Western, and 16 strokes in front of third-place, Winona State. The two-round tournament featured 13 competing teams and 88 individual golfers.
Canazares had his highest individual finish of the season, tying for second place after scores of 73 and 70. Torrente opened the tournament with a first-round score of 67, his lowest individual round of the season, before posting a second-round score of 76. Canazares and Torrente each finished with two-round totals of 143, two strokes behind the tournament's individual champion.
Competing as an individual, Garret Blair tied for fifth place with a total score of 145 over the two rounds. Blair followed up his first round of 74, with a 71 over his final 18 holes of play. The two-round total of 145 was the best two-round tournament score of the season for Blair, and also his lowest finish.
One stroke behind Blair was
Yente Van Doren, who secured sole possession of seventh place with a final score of 146. Van Doren had his best score during the final round when he fired a 71.
Also competing as an individual,
Brad Currier tied for 14th place, helped by his opening round score of 72. Currier equaled his best finish of the season, as he tied for 14th place earlier this season at the Arch Cup.
Also competing for Lindenwood were
Ryan Dyck and
Christian Argyros. Dyck used scores of 77 and 75 to tie for 23rd place, while Argyros tied for 70th place.
The Lions will next tee off on April 1-2 at the Upper Iowa Invitational in Waterloo, Iowa. The tournament will be held at the Sunnyside Country Club.
