Men’s Golf Continues Impressive Stretch at Tiger Classic

The Lindenwood men's golf team concluded the regular season portion of its schedule with a second-place finish at the Tiger Classic on Wednesday afternoon. The three-round tournament was played at Smoky Hills Country Club in Hays, Kan. and featured 11 competing teams. Lindenwood has now finished in first or second place in each of its last four tournaments.
 
Lindenwood opened the tournament on Tuesday with team scores of 296 and 284 during its first two rounds. The Lions shot a 301 during the final 18 holes of play, landing in second place with a three-round score of 881. Lindenwood was 29 strokes behind tournament champions, Central Missouri. The Lions built themselves a 15-stroke lead over Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State, who each tied for third place.
 
Yente Van Doren was the top individual golfer for Lindenwood, securing a seventh-place finish. Van Doren completed the three-round tournament with a score of 218, highlighted by his second-round score of 69. Van Doren had 10 birdies during the event, the second-highest total among the 67 competing golfers.
 
Brad Currier finished two strokes behind Van Doren, tying for ninth place. Currier posted a second-round score of 68, and finished the tournament with a score of 220. Currier fired a team-leading 37 pars during his three rounds.
 
Juan Torrente shot a 221 and finished tied for 11th place. Torrente opened the tournament a first-round score of 70, his lowest mark of the tournament. Torrente registered 31 pars and eight birdies throughout his three rounds.
 
Ryan Dyck and Alejandro Canazares both tied for 41st place with scores of 232. Christian Argyros competed for Lindenwood as an individual.
 
Lindenwood will return to action on April 24-26 at the MIAA Championships in Spring Hills, Kan. The tournament will be played at Sycamore Ridge Golf Club.
