The Lindenwood men's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule with an eighth-place finish at the Las Vegas Desert Open in Las Vegas, Nev. Yente Van Doren led the way for the Lions, finishing in second place among the 104 competing golfers.

Lindenwood posted scores of 302, 292, and 303 during the three-round tournament, completing the event with a total score of 897. The Lions landed just one stroke behind Washburn and Indianapolis, who tied for sixth place. West Florida won the event, posting a three-round score of 858.

On the individual side, Van Doren was Lindenwood's top performer, finishing in sole possession of second place. The junior had his second-best three-round score of the year, completing the tournament with a score of 211, five strokes under par. Van Doren fired a low-round of 69 during the second day of competition, and shot a 71 during the first and third rounds, respectively. Van Doren tied for third among all golfers with 14 birdies, and led the field with a 3.77 scoring average on par-4 holes.

Alejandro Canazares tied for 20th place, shooting a 224 over his three rounds of play. Canazares had his best round of 73 on Wednesday, and finished at even par on the par-3 holes.

Markus Lindgren tied for 46th place with a three-round score of 230. Brad Currier, who competed as an individual, finished one-stroke behind Lindgren, tying for 50th place.

Colton Wyllie tied for 59th place, while Christian Argyros and Caleb Picker each tied for 68th position. Wyllie tied for the tournament lead with 40 pars.

Lindenwood will return to action on March 12-13 at the Dave Falconer Classic in Danville, Ark.
