The billiards team swept three collegiate matches against Big 10 schools hosted at the University of Illinois April 13-14 in Champaign – Urbana, Illinois. The Lions stopped the Illini 10-7 and defeated the Boilermakers 12-5 on Saturday, then beat the Badgers 14-3 on Sunday.
Taylor Hansen and
April Larson paced Lindenwood against Illinois with perfect records in singles and doubles competition. Larson and
Andreas Madsen posted the top score in 15-ball at 46, followed by Hansen with 45 built a 9-5 lead to essentially clinch the victory.
Madsen and
Russell Carter were the top singles and doubles players for the Lions against Purdue, both going undefeated. Hansen shot the high total in 15-ball with 56, followed by Madsen with 47. Once again, Lindenwood build an early lead to clinch the match by the end of singles competition.
In the final meeting of the weekend, three players were perfect in match play including
Madison Bond, Madsen, and Hansen. Hansen was also the top player in 15-ball with another high score of 56, followed by Madsen with 40.
With the three wins, the Lions improved to 15-4 overall. After a two-week hiatus, the billiards team travels to Whitewater, Wisconsin for another collegiate weekend April 27-28. Lindenwood will face Wisconsin and Illinois on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively, and then face the host University of Wisconsin – Whitewater at 1 p.m. Sunday.
