The Lions began their season with a solid 14-3 victory over the Maplewood Shotmakers Thursday evening at the Lindenwood Billiards Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.
The Lions earned the first two points with a score of 231 in 15-Ball, led by
April Larson, who accounted for 58 on her own. Lindenwood then went 10-2 in singles nine-ball and 2-1 in doubles.
Taren Stewart,
JP Portwood, and
Robbie Patrick led the Lions with perfect records in the match.
When asked about his performance, Patrick, who is also a current World Champion in video gaming, mentioned the connection between the two sports.
"I feel that the dexterity and laser focus that is required for online gaming gives me an edge over some of the other pool talents," he said.
Head Coach
Mark Wilson was happy with the season opener.

"I felt very positive about the contributions we had up and down the lineup," he said. "
April Larson is our current National Champion, and she dominated 15-Ball. We also had great results from
Seth Chilcutt who went 2-0 in singles, and
Jack Bedtke who went 1-1, which made this win a full team effort."
The Lions return to the tables for another home match October 3 against Rudy's Rackrunners. The opening break is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Lindenwood Billiards Arena in St. Charles, Missouri.
