The Lindenwood men's golf team finished ninth at the MartinFed Invitational. The Lions shot 292, 293, 298 for a total of 883.
OVERVIEW
The Lions fired a 292 in the opening round, led by
Juan Ballester who shot a 3-under 69. Ballester played a solid final nine holes, earning a three-under on the back nine alone. Lindenwood's freshman led the charge in round one, as Samuel Bergestein shot a 73, while
Gabriel Lindahl wasn't far behind him, carding a 75.
In the second round, Bergenstein continued his strong play, firing a one-under 71. He had a strong front nine, shooting a three-under on those holes. Not far behind him was
Renato Filho who shot even par, 72. In his round, Filho carded 14 pars. Lindahl who carded a 74 in round two used 16 pars to get there. As a team, the Lions shot a 293 across the second 18.
The final round saw Lindenwood shoot a 298, led by Ballester who carded a two-under 70, which included birdies on three of his final holes. During the tournament, Ballester did most of his damage on par 4's, carding an average of 3.87 on such holes, second-best in the field.
Renato Filho had the second-best score among Lindenwood players, as he shot a 75, followed by
Jordan Breen who earned a 76 as an individual.
