The Lindenwood men's golf team shot an 891 to earn sixth place at the Big O Classic in Elkhorn, Neb. this week.
OVERVIEW
The Lions carded a team score of 303 across the first round, led by freshman
Gabriel Lindahl who shot a two-over 64 across the first 18. That was helped by four birdies on the card, including back-to-back on 10 and 11. Coming in just behind him was
Juan Ballester who shot a 76. Lindahl did most of his damage on par 5s, scoring an average of 4.50 on such holes during the tournament.
The Lions shot one stroke better in round two, earning a 302. Ballester paced the team with an even-par 72. He played solid golf during the second 18, carding 10 pars.
Gabriel Lindahl shot a 75, while
Brennan Strubberg earned the same score as an individual. Strubberg shot an even-par on the back nine.
Lindenwood made a move on day two, jumping five spots on the leaderboard from 11
th to sixth. The Lions carded a team score of 286, the best third round in the field. Two players shot under par in the final round, led by
Renato Filho who carded a 68, aided by six birdies. Ballester scored a 71 on the final day, good for a tie for seventh place. Despite multiple rain delays, Lindenwood finished strong, taking sixth place overall.
