The Lindenwood men's golf team battled cold, windy conditions this week at the Lindenwood Invitational at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club. The Lions finished in second place out of 16 teams. The B team finished in fifth.
OVERVIEW
Despite the conditions,
Sil Beyers played solid golf in round one, sending home 14 pars, two birdies and two bogeys. He was the only golfer in the tournament at even par or better after round one.
Liam Bentein wasn't far behind him, shooting a 74, sitting in a tie for fifth place after the opening 18.
Jordan Breen led all Lindenwood golfers with five birdies during the first 18 holes. The A team shot a 296 in round one, helping them lead by three strokes after day one.
Day two presented a bit warmer, but still chilly day. This allowed Bentein and
Matthew Frith to each record an eagle during their round. Frith fared well on par 5's shooting an average of 4.63, the third-best score on such holes in the tournament. Lindenwood had two groups in the tournament. In group B,
Alex White played one-under golf on the back nine, aided by a birdie on 18. Both teams finished inside the top-five, led by the A team who finished second. All five players on that squad finished inside the top-25.
