The Lindenwood men's golf team began its season with a fifth-place finish at the Arch Cup on Tuesday from Madison, Ill. The Lions compiled a total score of 591 as a team.
OVERVIEW
Lindenwood compiled a team score of 298 across the opening 18, led by freshman
Gabriel Lindahl. The native of Sweden played clean golf, carding 16 pars and a pair of birdies to finish with a 69 in the opening round, a score that left him in a tie for first. Across the two rounds, Lindahl scored an average of 2.90 on par 3s, second best in the field.
Tyler May also had a strong opening round, shooting a two-over 73. May finished his first round with three birdies, tied for the most among Lindenwood golfers. After one round of play, Lindenwood sat in seventh place.
Lindenwood improved its overall team score by five strokes in round two, shooting a 293. That charge was led by
Matthew Frith who recorded six birdies, including five on the front nine. For the tournament, Frith registered nine birdies, tied for most in the field. Other notable performances include
Juan Ballester who shot a 74, aided by three birdies during the second 18.
Alex White had one of three eagles in the field, coming on hole 10.
