Men's Golf Wins Lindenwood Invitational

For just the second time since 2012, the Lindenwood men's golf team captured the Lindenwood Invitational team title with a score of 839 (283, 277, 279) at the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club in St. Charles, Mo. Across two teams, the Lions had five place inside the top-10.

OVERVIEW
The Lions opened the 54-hole tournament with a 283, led by Liam Bentein and Matthew Frith who each carded a one-under 70. During the first 18, Bentein used a three-under on the front nine, which included an eagle on the par-5 first. Frith played steady golf with the help of 13 pars to get to his first round mark.

Juan Ballester came in just behind them with an even-par 71 in the first round as he tied Bentein for the team lead in birdies with four. Gabriel Lindahl and Mackenzie Holmes rounded out the lineup with a 72 and 77, respectively.  On the B team, Tyler May came in under par with an opening round 69, which put him tied for third, while Bentein and Frith tied for seventh.

Lindahl and Bentein led the way in round two with scores of 67 and 68. Lindahl finished with a team-high six birdies in the second round, including one on each of the first three holes. He also had a strong finish, eagling 18. In total, four Lindenwood golfers on the top squad shot even or under par across the second 18. The B team recorded two eagles, coming from Alex White and Sil Beyers, respectively.

In the third and final round, Lindahl once again had the top score with a 69, which included another eagle. Ballester finished with a 69 with the help of birdies on eight and nine. Bentein ended his round with a birdie on 18 to close with a 70. Tyler May was a bright spot all tournament long and finished with a four-under 67, including an eagle on nine.

Bentein was solid on par-4 holes, carding an average score of 3.89, best in the field. Lindahl did most of his damage on par-5s, going nine-under on such holes during the tournament, while his two eagles were tied for most in the field. Overall, Lindenwood won the tournament by 15 strokes.
